Le Pen called on France to abandon several articles of the human rights convention

Such a solution is required in the fight against terrorism and radical Islamism, says the leader of the right-wing National Union party.

The fight against terrorism and radical Islamism requires France to renounce a number of articles of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. This opinion was expressed on Sunday by Marin Le Pen, leader of the right-wing National Union Party, speaking on RTL radio station.

“France must refrain from applying a number of articles of the European Convention on Human Rights, as decisions of the Constitutional Court of a country are often based on the interpretation of decisions and on the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights. And in many cases this prevents France from defending itself against terrorists or removing them from French territory. It also forces the country to grant potential terrorists entry on the basis of family reunification rules”,  –  said Le Pen.

“All this creates obstacles to the protection of the French people”, –  she stressed.  – “France is well placed to give up a number of articles of the Convention, as Denmark, the UK and Ireland have already done. By doing so, we will demonstrate that the French nation intends to remain sovereign over all the components of the state’s prerogative of migration”, –  she said.
