Russian military police patrolled a checkpoint in Quneitra Governorate some 13 kilometres (8 miles) from the disengagement zone between Israeli and Syrian troops in the Golan Heights, Monday.
The police were sent to monitor the border zone after an agreement was struck between Russia, US and Jordan to enforce a ceasefire in the area.
SOT, Russian military policeman (Russian): “When we came here, we understood that it is a good place. All local residents are very friendly. Everybody is smiling and greeting us. You can see that they are happy with our arrival here.”
