Egypt is expected to lead an international peacekeeping contingent for the Gaza Strip, according to The Guardian, citing sources.
‘According to diplomats, a UN Security Council resolution is being prepared to grant international stabilisation forces significant powers to control security in the Gaza Strip, and there is every reason to believe that Egypt will lead them,’ the article says.
On 13 October, the leaders of Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Turkey, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Donald Trump, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, signed a document on ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Trump later announced the start of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan.
