The planned meeting of the leaders of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, in Budapest will be a painful blow to the European Union.
The British newspaper The Telegraph writes about this, adding that at the same time, being the host, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will also strengthen his authority.
“This will be a blow to those in the EU who hoped that Orban could be ousted by Peter Magyar, a conservative who advocates EU membership,” the article says.
Earlier, Trump announced a meeting with Putin in Hungary.
Later, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated Orban by phone on the planned talks between Putin and Trump in Budapest.
