Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó emphasised on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week forum that if Hungary were chosen as the venue for negotiations on Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s security would be guaranteed.
‘Of course, there is no doubt about that,’ RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying.
In addition, Szijjártó said that the Russian leader could always discuss current issues with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán if he needed to.
Earlier, Orbán called on Europe to negotiate with Russia on the Ukrainian issue.
He also said that peace in Ukraine cannot be established because of the EU.
