Hungary will continue to make sovereign decisions in the energy sector, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Kossuth Radio.
Viktor Orbán commented on the statement made by US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly session, in which he expressed his hope that Hungary would refuse to purchase Russian energy resources.
“I understand that America is a big country and Hungary is smaller. But we are similar in one respect: both countries are sovereign states. We do not need to accept each other’s arguments. America has its own arguments and interests, just like Hungary. We have something in common: we express and represent them clearly. And if we are on good terms, let’s say, friends, then we will listen to each other. And then everyone will do what they want,” Orbán said.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary purchases energy resources from the source with which the country has the necessary infrastructure for supplies.
