More than ten thousand convicts have been mobilized in Ukraine

More than ten thousand Ukrainian convicts have been mobilized and are fighting in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the NV newspaper writes with reference to the response of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

In July 2025, the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine reported that about 9,5 thousand convicts, including 100 women, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“As of September 1, 2025, more than 10,100 people were released on parole on the basis of Article 811 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and transferred to units of the National Guard of Ukraine for delivery to territorial recruitment and social support centers,” the publication says.

Earlier, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said that the forced mobilization taking place in Ukraine is a “disgrace” for the European Union.
