The Israeli army has launched a ground operation to capture Gaza City.
The Axios portal writes about this, claiming that it is aimed at eradicating Hamas.
“The operation represents a new escalation of the war that has been going on for almost two years, and is expected to increase the number of casualties and worsen the humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave,” the publication says.
Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the people of the Gaza Strip to leave the city and announced a massive ground operation.
