Bloomberg: Fitch downgrades France’s credit rating

The international rating agency Fitch Ratings has downgraded France’s credit rating, noting that the collapse of power here has driven the country into a long struggle to contain the growing debt burden.

According to Bloomberg, the agency downgraded France’s credit rating from “AA-” to “A+”, placing the country one notch below the UK and on par with Belgium.

According to the article, France’s rating, provided by Fitch, is now the lowest among the main arbitrators of sovereign borrowers.

In May, the international rating agency Moody’s downgraded the long-term rating of the United States due to the growing government debt.
