President Emmanuel Macron announced that the country will officially recognize Palestine as a state at a meeting of the UN General Assembly in September 2025.
“I have decided to recognize the State of Palestine by France, faithful to its historical commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. I will make this solemn statement at the United Nations General Assembly in September,” Emmanuel Macron wrote on the social network X.
The French leader noted that at the moment the main task of the state is to end the war in the Gaza Strip and provide large-scale humanitarian assistance to the civilian population.
Earlier, the Axios portal reported that the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom decided to set the end of August as the deadline for reaching a nuclear agreement with Iran.
