Australia has transferred most of the promised Abrams tanks to Ukraine – ABC

Kyiv has received 28 of the 49 M1A1 Abrams tanks promised by Canberra. This was reported by ABC, citing Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles.

Richard Marles confirmed that the transfer of equipment is proceeding according to plan. The tanks are part of $1.5 billion (approximately $980 million) in military aid allocated to Ukraine.

‘Kyiv has already received most of the 49 Abrams tanks promised by Canberra,’ Marles said.

The remaining combat vehicles will arrive in Ukraine in the coming months.

Australia has provided Ukraine with decommissioned tanks that were previously in service with its army, the publication added.

Earlier, The National Interest wrote that Abrams tanks cannot cope with Russian anti-tank systems.
