Politico: France does not intend to purchase US weapons for Ukraine

France does not plan to participate in the initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine. Paris is striving to develop its own weapons production.

This is reported by the newspaper Politico. According to the publication, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte did not mention France, listing the countries ready to participate in the initiative during a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

It is claimed that French President Emmanuel Macron has long been encouraging Europeans to develop their own defense industry through the purchase of weapons from local manufacturers.

“For this reason, Paris will not join the initiative to purchase American weapons,” the article says.

Earlier, Trump said that American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems are already being sent from Germany to Ukraine.
