French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has announced that the European Union is preparing large-scale restrictive measures against Moscow. This was reported by the LCI TV channel.
In an interview, Jean-Noël Barrot emphasized that the sanctions would be the most severe in the last three years. The new measures aim to limit Russia’s energy export revenues and complicate the operations of its financial institutions abroad.
The restrictions will target the oil sector, Russian financial institutions, and foreign intermediaries collaborating with Russian companies.
“By coordinating with American senators and based on French proposals, the EU is preparing to impose the most severe sanctions in the last three years,” the minister said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump lifted restrictions on a number of Russian financial and industrial organizations.
