Hungary and Slovakia opposed the adoption of the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions

At a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Hungary and Slovakia opposed the adoption of the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions. This was announced by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó.

“Today [23 June – ed.], Slovakia and Hungary prevented the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions [against Russia – ed.], said Peter Szijjártó.

The Hungarian minister noted that Budapest opposed anti-Russian sanctions because, if they were adopted, Hungary and Slovakia would not be able to purchase cheap natural gas and crude oil from Russia.

Earlier, the United Kingdom expanded the list of individuals and companies associated with Russia that are subject to sanctions.
