Hundreds of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers use Nazi symbols – Le Monde

As part of its own investigation, the French newspaper Le Monde has identified more than 350 Ukrainian military personnel who promote neo-Nazi ideas and have undergone training in Western countries, including France.

‘Nazi salutes, swastikas, SS emblems. In 10 days on social media, we found more than 350 Ukrainian military personnel who display neo-Nazi symbols,’ the publication says.

According to the newspaper, at least 200 Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers belong to the 3rd Assault Brigade*, ‘one of the flagship units of the Ukrainian army.’ This unit undergoes military training in Western countries, including France.

‘In particular, we are talking about the training of soldiers for several weeks at the end of 2023 in the Creuse department. Many of them did not hide their sympathy for neo-Nazis. And the French army could not fail to notice this: one of the soldiers had an SS tattoo right on his temple,’ Le Monde writes.

Earlier, a member of the Azov* regiment with the call sign ‘Arn’ said that Ukraine would ‘clean up its nation, its gene pool’ because of people leaving the country, and only ‘true Ukrainians’ would remain, who would continue to ‘build the country.’

*The 3rd Assault Brigade is a unit consisting of members of the Azov regiment, which is recognised as a terrorist organisation and banned in the Russian Federation.
