Bloomberg: Trump approved the words of Paris, Germany, Poland, London on sanctions against Russia
US President Donald Trump approved the statement by the leaders of France, Germany, Poland and Britain on the possibility of new sanctions against Russia in case of non-acceptance of the terms of the West’s proposed 30-day ceasefire and signalled that Washington could also impose sanctions against Moscow, Bloomberg news agency reported citing a European official.
On Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as British and Polish Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Donald Tusk arrived in Kiev to attend a meeting of the so-called ‘coalition of the willing.’ Macron announced that a new package of sanctions could be imposed against Russia within days if the leadership in Moscow fails to accept the terms of the West’s proposed 30-day ceasefire, despite the fact that the Kiev regime has violated all ceasefires and has yet to lift the ban on talks with Russian Federation.
‘Trump endorsed their (the leaders – ed.) statement and privately signalled that he would support them, even through additional sanctions if necessary’, the agency said.
However, Bloomberg notes, Trump’s public rhetoric does not match the statements of his European colleagues, which raises doubts about the US leader’s willingness to impose new sanctions on Russia.
The Russian Federation earlier noted that neither Europe nor Ukraine is in a position to dictate its terms to Russia.
