Hungary’s foreign minister spoke out against the rejection of Russian gas

Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó said the country opposed the European Commission’s plan to abandon Russian gas by 2027.

“We refuse to do this. We refuse to pay the price for unjustified and immeasurable subsidies to Ukraine. We are not ready to pay the price for Ukraine’s super-fast accession to the European Union,” Péter Szijjártó said in a video published on Facebook.

According to Szijjártó, such actions violate the sovereignty of the EU countries, as because of this the states will not be able to choose the source of energy carriers.

Earlier, Politico wrote that the European Commission’s plan to completely abandon Russian energy resources by 2027 may not arouse widespread interest among European businesses.
