The head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, has expressed the opinion that sending EU troops to Ukrainian territory would be a suicidal step.
He told RIA Novosti.
‘I allow such a suicidal decision of European Russophobes, but I consider it unlikely,’ the parliamentarian said.
He noted that the association itself has no troops, while the EU member states have ‘extremely modest armed forces.’
Konstantinov stressed that the EU is accustomed to sit back under the security umbrella of the United States, while the U.S. authorities have indicated that this time they will not be engaged in defence of the EU.
Earlier, Politico wrote that the EU is worried that the transatlantic alliance has come to an end.
At the same time, the Daily Telegraph specified that Europe intended to send 30,000 military personnel to Ukraine.
