Lavrov called Putin and Trump’s conversation a conversation between two well-mannered, polite people

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the recent dialogue between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump a conversation between ‘two well-mannered, polite people.’

According to the minister, the conversation between the two presidents will sober up representatives of the West who have forgotten how to conduct a dialogue.

‘Probably, in the West, many people, starting with the leaders of the European Union, became numb when a normal, elementary conversation between two well-mannered, polite people took place,’ Lavrov said.

In the evening of 12 February, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had a telephone conversation. They touched on the topic of conflict resolution in Ukraine, including in the context of addressing its root causes.

Politico journalists expressed the opinion that Europe sees a threat in such negotiations without EU participation.
