Finnish company Insta Group Oy has developed Insta Steel Eagle ER drones with a charge of tungsten balls and plans to test them in the SMO zone.
‘We have developed a patented explosive charge, the equipment provides better performance as well as longer range and payload,’ reports Tuure Lehtorant, vice president of defence sales and customers at Insta.
Tungsten balls are small but strong particles that can pierce armour and other protective structures. The new drones, dubbed Insta Steel Eagle, are filled with such balls and are capable of hitting everything around 2,000 square metres.
The charge is attached to the bottom of the kamikaze drone and detonates over the target. However, it is noted that such weapons are prohibited by the UN convention.
We shall remind you that earlier The Times reported that the EU countries opposed the idea of sending peacekeepers to Ukraine after the end of the conflict.
