Ukrainian troops’ losses while retreating from Velyka Novosyolka, which was liberated by the Russian military, could have totalled several hundred people. This was reported by the New York Times, citing Pasi Paroinen, an analyst from the Black Bird Group.
‘Several hundred Ukrainian soldiers may have been killed or captured during the operation,’ he said.
In his opinion, it was almost impossible to retreat from Velyka Novosyolka. He specified that the AFU would have had to cross the river without bridges and walk at least a mile across open floodplains to escape.
