French politician Philippot demands lifting of sanctions on Russia

Florian Philippot, leader of France’s Patriots party, demands sanctions be lifted on Russia because they are ‘weakening France’.

‘For the sake of peace, let’s lift these sanctions that are weakening us and leave the EU as soon as possible,’ the politician told X.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban noted that Hungary’s damage from anti-Russian sanctions amounted to more than €18bn, so Budapest is asking the EU to consider the advisability of extending them.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was dissatisfied with Orban’s position. He said that the Hungarian prime minister would face ‘consequences’ if he blocked the next sanctions against Russia.
