President-elect Donald Trump has expressed his desire to meet with Vladimir Putin after his inauguration, which will take place next week. The future US leader said this in an interview with the Newsmax TV channel, quoted by Reuters.
‘And I know he wants to meet, and I’m going to meet with him real quick. I would have done it sooner, but … you have to get into the office. You have to be there for some things,’ Trump commented.
If the meeting takes place, it would be the first since the SMO began in 2022. Trump did not announce a specific timeline, but commented on possible strategies for ending hostilities in Ukraine.
‘Well, there’s only one strategy, and it depends on Putin, and I can’t imagine that he’s thrilled with the way things are going, because things are not going well for him either,’ said Donald Trump.
We will remind, earlier The New York Times reported that some Republicans in the U.S. Congress, who were actively in favour of assistance to Ukraine earlier, changed their position after the victory of Donald Trump at the presidential elections.
