The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost almost 13 thousand soldiers and 46 tanks in the first week of 2025. This was written by the RIA Novosti news agency, having calculated the data of the Russian Defence Ministry.
‘According to the agency’s reports, the AFU lost up to 9.7 thousand people in the [special military – ed.] special operation zone between 1 and 7 January. In addition, some 2,975 Ukrainian military personnel were killed in battles in the Kursk region,’ the agency reported.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, during the week the Russian military destroyed 17 tanks, including five Leopard produced by Germany, in the area of the SMO.
