French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Ukraine to have “honest discussions” on territorial issues if it wants the conflict to end, Le Monde has reported.
“Ukraine will have to have realistic discussions on territorial issues,” Emmanuel Macron said in a speech to French ambassadors broadcast on X.
According to him, “there will be no quick and easy solution in Ukraine”.
“The new American president himself knows that the United States has no chance of winning anything if Ukraine loses, and Ukraine’s capitulation cannot be good for Europeans and Americans,” the French president said.
According to Macron, the United States should help the EU “change the nature of the situation and convince Russia to come to the negotiating table,” while the Europeans will have to “create security guarantees” for Ukraine, “which will be their main responsibility.”
