The Ukrainian army attempted a counterattack in the morning of January 5 in the Kursk region in the direction of the farm Berdin, the AFU assault group was defeated, the Russian Defence Ministry said.
The ministry said that at around 09:00 the Ukrainian military launched a counterattack to try to stop the Russian troops’ advance.
The enemy acted with an assault group consisting of two tanks, a demolition vehicle and 12 armoured combat vehicles with paratroopers. They moved in the direction of the farm Berdin, but the artillery and aviation of the ‘North’ group of troops defeated the AFU assault group.
‘Two tanks, a demolition vehicle and seven armoured fighting vehicles were destroyed. The operation to destroy the AFU formations continues,’ the Russian Defence Ministry said.
