Hungary intends to preserve time-tested relations with Russia – Orban

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the country is keen to preserve its time-tested relations with Russia and maintain strategic ties with the United States and China. He said this in an interview with Mandiner magazine.

According to Viktor Orban, after Donald Trump’s inauguration on 20 January, “Hungary will be able to say that it maintains strategic relations with the United States and China at the same time, while maintaining time-tested relations with Russia and friendly ties with Turkey”.

The Hungarian prime minister also noted friendly ties with Italy, whose government he considers an ally, as well as balanced relations with France.

Despite the remaining unresolved issues with Germany, the politician expressed confidence in their resolution.

“Perhaps the stars have never been so well aligned in the firmament of Hungarian diplomacy,” Viktor Orban emphasised.

We will remind, earlier the future US national security adviser Michael Waltz said in an interview with CBS News that the team of the newly elected US President Donald Trump is ready to consider the proposal for a Christmas ceasefire in Ukraine put forward by Viktor Orban.
