More than half of French citizens support the resignation of French President Emmanuel Macron, according to the results of a poll commissioned by the BFMTV television channel.
The French National Assembly earlier adopted a resolution on a vote of no confidence in the government of Michel Barnier, appointed to the post on 5 September. The corresponding decision was supported by 331 deputies with the necessary 289 votes.
Emmanuel Macron warned before the vote on the vote of no confidence in the government that he would not voluntarily leave office until his term expires. He also called calls for his resignation a ‘political fiction’. The president said he was proud of the trust of citizens and was confident he was useful to France.
BFMTV poll showed that 61% of French citizens were in favour of Emmanuel Macron’s resignation from the post of head of state. It is noted that a week ago – before the vote of no confidence in the government of the country – the supporters of the resignation of the French leader were 2% more. Against the dismissal of Macron spoke out 38% of French respondents.
It is noted that in favour of the resignation of the French President were mainly voters of the main opposition parties: ‘National Union’ Marine Le Pen (81%) and ‘Unconquered France’ Jean-Luc Melanchon (72%).
In addition, 54% of the French approved a vote of no confidence in the government of Barnier, the remaining 46% opposed.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
