French President Emmanuel Macron has failed to hold on to power and brought the “once prosperous country” to a state of deep political and economic crisis, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has said.
“The times of de Gaulle and Mitterrand are far in the past. France has lost not only its subjectivity in developing a pan-European position, but also its independence in decision-making,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to Volodin, Macron, having allowed Biden to drag himself into the war in Ukraine, “has finally lost the trust of his own population.” For the first time since 1962, the French government “has received a vote of no confidence and is obliged to resign.”
Earlier, the Duma speaker said that US President Joe Biden had damaged the country’s credibility by pardoning his son.
