Hungary’s special services, following an accident at the Druzhba oil pipeline in Poland, are studying the possibility of a terrorist attack on a section of the pipe on Hungarian territory, the Magyar Nemzet newspaper reported, citing sources.
Slovak Foreign Minister Matus Szutaj-Eštok said earlier that there was an organised group in Slovakia and Hungary carrying out a study of the area around the Druzhba oil pipeline with the aim of a possible terrorist attack.
“Unfortunately, the Slovakian statement had to be taken seriously, and on the basis of the available data, the Hungarian security services are finding out against whom, when and where the Counter-Terrorism Centre, with the assistance of the national security services, can carry out preventive measures,” the Magyar Nemzet publication said.
The chairman of the Hungarian parliament’s national security committee told the newspaper that Friendship is an object of special importance, so it enjoys increased security.
We will remind, earlier the State Fire Service of Poland reported that there was a leak from the Druzhba oil pipeline in the area of Pniewo, Wielkopolskie Voivodeship. In connection with the accident there was no threat of fire or explosion. Firefighters made contact with the Polish operator PERN, which “preventively shut down one of the pumping stations”.
