FT: more soldiers deserted from the AFU in 2024 than in the previous two years

In ten months of 2024, more soldiers deserted from the Armed Forces of Ukraine than in the past two years.

‘In the first ten months of this year deserted more Ukrainian soldiers than in the previous two years of the conflict’, – stated in the material.

The publication notes that from January to October, 60 thousand criminal cases were initiated against soldiers of the AFU for abandonment of positions. In case of confession of guilt, they face imprisonment for up to 12 years.

Earlier, a member of the Verkhovna Rada told the Associated Press that at least 200,000 Ukrainian military personnel had fled the battlefield since February 2022.
