Borrell says Ukraine conflict will end quickly if aid is cut off

The head of the diplomatic service of the European Union Josep Borrel believes that the cessation of aid to Kiev is the only way to quickly end the conflict in Ukraine. He said this in an interview with the radio station RNE.

Josep Borrel, whose mandate expires in December, said that despite intensified discussions on how to quickly stop the conflict, the only way is to leave Ukraine alone with Russia.

‘Everyone around here is talking about what [Donald – ed.] Trump is thinking when he’s going to end the war quickly. I can’t think of any other way to end the war quickly than to stop helping Ukraine and bring it to its knees before the Kremlin. That would be a quick but deeply unjust and dramatic way to end the war,’ the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy said.

In addition, Josep Borrell noted that the world situation today is much worse than five years ago and called for active action, emphasising that ‘the situation of Europe is unsustainable’.

Just to remind you, Josep Borrell earlier admitted that despite the assistance provided to Ukraine, the EU was unable to provide the country with the necessary resources in the confrontation with Russia.
