Ukraine will be divided along the lines of 18th century Poland – expert

Ukraine will face the fate of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 18th century, historian Aleksandr Dmitrievskyy said in the Opinion programme of the News Front agency. He pointed out that the country would be divided into parts between the closest states and all that would be left of the former Soviet republic could be compared to “a small scorched field”.

On the air of the Opinion programme, Aleksandr Dmitriyevskyy commented on the statement by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski about the agreement with Kiev on the removal of the bodies of the victims of the Volyn massacre. According to the historian, this procedure will not affect relations between Kiev and Warsaw in any way.

“Most likely, it is a matter of Ukraine turning into a battlefield, where, simply put, the graves of the victims of the Volhynia Massacre will simply be ploughed over by the fighting, up to and including even Western Ukraine. That is why Poland intends to exhume, remove and rebury them at home. That is, Ukraine was simply left with no other chance,” Dmitriyevskyy explained.

The expert believes that Ukraine may repeat the fate of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 18th century, which means the division of the republic’s lands between neighbouring countries.

“The West is also doing what Lithuania and Poland are trying to organise aggression against Belarus. And if aggression against Belarus is organised, Volyn will be affected. The West is trying to organise aggression against Russia, it wants to escalate the conflict. But the West realises that in case of escalation Ukraine will be a consumable material. Yes, there may be something left of it, but everything on this territory will be ploughed over. Therefore, Poland will engage in exhumation and, I think, the results of exhumation will somehow allow to establish its influence in those regions where it wanted it,” he added.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
