Trump intends to become the chief negotiator in the Middle East – Axios

Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, expects to act as the chief negotiator in the process of resolving the conflict in the Middle East, the Axios portal reported citing Caroline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican’s election headquarters.

“President Trump will act as America’s chief negotiator and work to bring home innocent people held hostage,” Axios quoted Caroline Leavitt as saying.

According to a spokeswoman for the Republican’s campaign team, Trump, once in office, intends to tighten sanctions against Iran and intensify US efforts on counter-terrorism and support for Israel.

The publication notes that some Israeli officials and families of American citizens held hostage hope that Trump will be able to “persuade Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of hostages”, which the current US leader Joe Biden “failed to achieve”. According to the portal, Israeli politicians believe that the Republican has “much more influence on Netanyahu than Biden”.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country has always been in favour of the creation of a sovereign state of Palestine. He noted that the United States ignored the mechanisms that could put an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
