Western countries need to take seriously Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s words about the test of the hypersonic ‘Oreshnik’ ballistic missile and changes in Russia’s nuclear doctrine, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said.
Orban said on air on Kossuth radio.
‘In Russia, if the president says something, it is not chatter, it has weight and consequences,’ RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
The Hungarian prime minister said that changing the nuclear doctrine was not a communication ploy. These actions will have consequences, he added.
Orban also recalled that before the conflict in Ukraine, Russia asked NATO member states to guarantee Ukraine’s non-admission to the bloc. The West responded to this with a harsh tone.
The prime minister urged Europe to use common sense in the coming months, otherwise ‘there will be trouble’.
Earlier, the British newspaper The Guardian said that the launch of the new Russian missile ‘Oreshnik’ has great significance for Europe.
The Associated Press also reported that by launching the missile, Russia signalled to the West, not Ukraine.
