Oil refineries of the Hungarian company MOL will not switch to non-Russian oil by the end of 2026 without financial assistance from the European Union. This was stated by the company’s managing director György Bacsa in an interview with Politico.
György Bacsa said that the Hungarian company MOL will not be able to give up Russian oil by the end of 2025, as previously planned, without financial assistance from the European Union.
According to MOL’s managing director, the modernisation of refineries in Hungary and Slovakia has been delayed by a year, until the end of 2026, and only with EU financial help will they be able to operate without Russian crude.
‘Refineries can be ready to operate without Russian oil by the end of 2026, but this will require EU money,’ emphasised György Bacsa.
Recall, earlier the agency ‘RIA Novosti’ with reference to Eurostat data reported that Russia, for the first time since the spring of 2022, again became the main supplier of gas to the European Union in September 2024.
