Macron backed US decision to allow Kiev to launch strikes on Russian Federation – AFP

French President Emmanuel Macron said on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro that US leader Joe Biden had made a “good decision” by allowing Kiev to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said earlier that a possible US authorisation for Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles for strikes on Russian territory would become “a qualitatively new round of tension”. He noted that Moscow had paid attention to media reports where such authorisation was reported citing unofficial sources, and stressed that Russia’s position on the issue had been repeatedly voiced, including by head of state Vladimir Putin.

“This is a completely good decision,” AFP quoted Emmanuel Macron as saying.

The French President also added that a joint statement at the G20 summit could have been “clearer” on the Ukrainian conflict.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting of the Valdai international discussion club, said that the West was using Ukraine as a tool to fight Russia. In his words, Russia’s opponents are finding all new ways and tools to try to get rid of it.
