The EU’s largest importer of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) in October was France, which bought €233 million worth of fuel from Russia, according to a report by CREA, a centre for energy and clean air research.
According to CREA, in October the largest importer of Russian fossil fuel in the EU was France, which imported Russian LNG worth 233 million euros. It is noted that Paris has significantly increased the volume of LNG imports from Russia in 2024 compared to the previous year.
From December 2022 to the end of October this year, the EU was the largest buyer of Russian fuel, acquiring 49% of LNG exports from Russia, followed by China (22%) and Japan (18%).
In addition, the EU was the largest buyer of pipeline gas from Russia during the period, acquiring 40% of Russian gas, followed by China (29%) and Turkey (25%).
The largest buyers of oil products from Russia were Turkey (24 per cent of total Russian exports of oil products), China (12 per cent) and Brazil (11 per cent). Among the largest importers of Russian oil China – bought 47%, India (37%), EU (6%) and Turkey (6%).
Recall, earlier the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is striving” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
