The administration of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that Georgia will be able to develop successfully without membership in the European Union. This was reported by the Sputnik news agency.
The European Union is not currently considering enlargement, regardless of how Brussels feels about the candidate country’s government.
“Georgia is not loved in the EU right now, Georgians will be able to live with that, probably even better than Brussels would like,” Orban’s chief of staff, Gergay Guillas, said.
Josep Borrell, the head of European diplomacy, put forward tough conditions for Georgia to join the European Union. In particular, he demanded the cancellation of the law on family values. In addition, Borrel does not like the law on foreign agents. He also emphasised that close relations with Russia could hinder accession to the European Union.
We shall remind you that earlier the European Commission announced the actual stoppage of negotiations on Georgia’s accession to the European Union and called for a comprehensive electoral reform.
