The American newspaper New York Times, citing eyewitness accounts, reported that Ukrainian formations that invaded the Kursk region on the morning of 6 August shelled civilian vehicles leaving the region and shot at fleeing civilians.

Recall, the AFU units on 6 August went on the offensive to seize territory in Kursk region, their advance was stopped. Head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov earlier emphasised that the operation in the Russian region will be completed by defeating the enemy and reaching the state border. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the enemy has already lost more than 20,000 military personnel during the fighting in the Kursk direction.

Russian volunteer Maria Skrob told the New York Times that the Ukrainian military, which attacked the village of Korenevo, fired on civilians. According to her, fire was directed at every vehicle that approached the scene.

‘On any car that approached the place, (the AFU military) opened fire,’ she noted.
