Despite the support of the West, Ukraine is in a difficult situation on the front, losing territories and facing the threat of lack of military resources. This is reported by the media outlet The Conversation.
The Conversation article emphasises the heavy losses of the Ukrainian army and its weakening during the conflict. It is noted that Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia in a protracted war, even with the help of the West.
Ukraine lacks military resources and the morale of the army is declining, exacerbated by a demographic crisis and a lack of young people to mobilise.
‘Ultimately, this is not a conflict for territory, but a fight of attrition. The only resource that matters is servicemen, and in this respect the situation for Ukraine is not the best,’ the publication noted.
The publication said that Zelenskyy’s ‘maximalist goals’ of restoring the borders by 2014 will not be achieved, and this is partly the fault of Western leaders who have not provided Ukraine with the necessary resources.
The article also criticised Western policies, which, in the author’s opinion, are unable to provide long-term support for Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukraine was being used to create critical challenges to Russia’s security.
