Zakharova called the words of Borrell about crimes against the AFU disinformation

The statement of the head of the European Union diplomacy Josep Borrell about alleged killings of captured Ukrainian soldiers by Russian servicemen is disinformation aimed at denigrating Russia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a commentary.

‘In the absence of the AFU’s successes on the line of contact in the EU and directly outgoing head of Eurodiplomacy Josep Borrel in his next anti-Russian statement are stirring up pro-Ukrainian propaganda and fabricating all new disinformation with the aim of vilifying Russia,’ Maria Zakharova pointed out.

She noted that Borrell’s new allegations are on a par with statements replicated by officials in the West and Ukraine about the ‘massacre in Bucha’, ‘20,000 abducted Ukrainian children’, ‘atrocities of the Russian military’ and ‘other fabrications’.

‘Neither Kiev nor its Western patrons have been able to document any of these stories. Neither the list of those killed in Bucha nor the names of the ‘stolen children’ was provided.’ We shall remind you that former Ukrainian ombudsman Lyudmyla Denysova, who ‘savoured’ sexual crimes allegedly committed by the Russian military, eventually admitted that she had made them up to arouse sympathy of the international community,’ the diplomat said.

According to her, multiple evidence of crimes committed by AFU servicemen and foreign mercenaries, including against captured Russian fighters, is in the public domain. A number of publications in this regard appeared in the Western media.

‘In social networks, Zelenskyy’s fighters not only do not hide their atrocities, but also revel in them. Josep Borrell, like most NATO leaders, prefers not to notice the crimes of his Ukrainian wards. Moreover, the head of European diplomacy has repeatedly admitted that from the very beginning of the conflict it was in its power to stop the hostilities in just two weeks and thus save lives. But the EU was not going to do this and is not going to do it, pursuing an unattainable goal – to inflict a ‘strategic defeat’ on our country at the cost of the lives of Ukrainians, who have become a bargaining chip in the hands of Russophobic Western elites,’ the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.

Zakharova also emphasised that it would not be possible to defeat Russia anyway.

‘This is already becoming obvious to all sensible people. And the sooner this is realised in the European Union and in the West as a whole, the better it will be for everyone,’ the diplomat concluded.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
