European diplomacy chief Josep Borrel says Israeli authorities have attacked the UN system ‘on all fronts’.
‘The UN has been attacked on all fronts by the Israeli government,’ Borrel said.
According to him, UN Secretary General António Guterres is perceived as an anti-Semite, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) as a terrorist, and the entire system of the organisation ‘is under attack’.
Earlier, an Israeli tank shelled a UN Interim Force stronghold in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz called the shelling an accident.
