German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said he is ready to discuss the settlement in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
‘In this regard, it is correct that when we are asked whether we will talk to the Russian president, we say yes, and that is true,’ TASS quoted him as saying.
At the same time, Scholz noted that there are principles in peace efforts – decisions cannot be made ‘behind Ukraine’s back.’
About the fact that Olaf Scholz is pondering a call to the Russian President, earlier wrote Zeit.
The chancellor said in March that he last spoke to the Russian president in December 2022.
