The fate of the head of Hezbollah’s executive council, Hashem Safi al-Din, has been clarified. The new head of the Shiite movement was confirmed dead in an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) attack on Beirut.
According to Al Arabiya TV, Safi al-Din was killed in an IDF strike on a southern suburb of the Lebanese capital on Friday, 4 October. Several officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed along with him.
Earlier, Reuters reported that the new head of Hezbollah had been out of contact for a second day.
