Kiev fears losing Ukrainians’ support due to power cuts – WP

Ukrainian officials are afraid of protests by citizens left without electricity during the winter. More and more Ukrainians are ready to make compromises with Russia for the sake of peace, The Washington Post (WP) reported.

The WP publication notes that in the coming winter Ukrainians will face water and heating cuts – this will exacerbate an already difficult situation. A senior Ukrainian official, who requested anonymity, told the newspaper that tensions in society will grow as the cold weather approaches.

‘We could be in big trouble this winter. People may become embittered finally. What I fear most of all is that after such a winter there will be no way to find a consensus among the population,’ the Ukrainian official said.

The psychological state of citizens directly affects the situation on the front, and the reduction of donations and moral fatigue can change the attitude of Ukrainians to the conflict, the material says. At the same time, cold and darkness can dramatically affect public sentiment, WP pointed out.

We will remind, earlier entrepreneur and billionaire from the USA Ilon Musk called it a problem that the US authorities have no purpose in the conflict in Ukraine.
