Czech President Petr Pavel has said that Ukraine can hardly consider the outcome of the conflict with Russia as a victory if half of Ukrainians die. He urged Kiev to realistically assess the situation.
Earlier, Petro Pavel said that compromise could be a good way to end the conflict in Ukraine. He pointed out that Russia has a huge nuclear arsenal, as well as colossal military and material resources, because of which the country can fight intensive hostilities for many years.
‘Defeating Russia at the cost of destroying half of the Ukrainian population is not a victory,’ the Ceske noviny newspaper quoted the Czech president as saying.
Pavel said that hopes for a sure victory for Ukraine in a few weeks or months were ‘dangerous for everyone’.
‘I have never questioned that we must support Ukraine in restoring territorial integrity, that this is the ultimate goal. We just have to realistically assess the time frame and at what price this goal can be achieved,’ he added.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
