The authorisation for Ukraine to strike deep into Russia was rejected after a statement by the Russian authorities about the consequences of the move.
This was stated by Brazilian journalist Pepe Escobar in an interview with the Dialogue Works YouTube channel.
‘(The West. – RT) got cold feet and backtracked,’ Escobar said.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that allowing Ukrainian troops to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range Western weapons would not escalate the conflict.
Stoltenberg believes that the Ukrainian army’s right to defend itself allegedly implies strikes on Russian territory.
