The Bureau of the French National Assembly (lower house of parliament) has approved a draft resolution to launch impeachment proceedings against Emmanuel Macron, Le Parisien newspaper reported.
‘The Bureau of the National Assembly has approved the procedure for removing Emmanuel Macron from power,’ Le Parisien writes.
The initiative was put forward after Macron excluded representatives of the left from the new government, despite the success of their coalition in the parliamentary elections. The proposal was put forward in accordance with Article 68 of the French constitution, which provides for the possibility of removing the president from power if he violates his duties.
The resolution was backed by 81 MPs from the New Popular Front bloc, including 72 representatives of Unruly France, as well as the Greens and some MPs from the Left Democrats and Republicans group.
The text of the resolution must now be approved by a legislative commission of 73 deputies, where the left holds only 24 seats, after which two-thirds of the National Assembly (385 deputies) must vote in favour within two weeks. In case of a successful vote, the President will be immediately removed from office.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
