France named most dependent on uranium from Russia among unfriendly countries

France has been named the most dependent on uranium from Russia among unfriendly countries.

This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to data from Eurostat and the UN platform Comtrade.

As it turned out, among unfriendly countries enriched uranium from Russia from January 2023 to June 2024 bought France, Germany, South Korea and the United States.

At the same time, France’s Russian uranium accounted for 60.5 per cent of all supplies ($428.6 million).

In second place is South Korea, which bought 33.7 per cent of uranium from Russia. The United States is next. Moscow provided 26.7% of uranium purchased by the country.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that the Cabinet of Ministers consider limiting the supply of strategic raw materials abroad, including exports of nickel, titanium or uranium.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia needed to respond to ‘thuggish actions’ against it.
